I have to get my blood tested for school, just for vaccinations and stuff. Do they usually take that much?

  1. No not at all.  They usually take just a small vial full.

  2. Usually, depending on what they are testing for, they may need more than one vial. Each vial holds about a table spoon and a half of blood. The amount can range anywhere from one vial to eight. They generally do not take enough to affect you and if you are afraid of the needle, just ask for a butterfly needle. These needles are very small and are often used on babies and small children. But they can not say no unless they don't have any on hand when you ask.

  3. No, most blood draws require a very very small amount of blood - usually about a teaspoon.

  4. Most of the time they only need 2 pints to test and it only takes about half an hour to give.
