Hi guys, I made my sweet heart mexican rice for dinner to go with garnita meat, the rice turned out perfect but, the only thing was the rice didn't have enough flavor, I felt so bad I thought it was going to turn out perfect, but I was wrong, I added salt, cumin, onion powder, and calla de pollo bullion my mother in law showed me how to make it once she doesn't measure she eye ball it so If you can help me out I need to get the flavor down and if you can tell me how to make it even tastier the better how much bullion do I add beause I measure my food just to be on the safe side I want to really make sure it taste really good because I want to impress her I want to let her know that I can take care of her son by knowing how to cook right thank you very much for your valuable time I appreciate it.

  1. I usually purchase this buillion called Knorr (Caldo de pollo, Chicken stock flavored) and Knorr (De Tomate, tomato Flavoring) Its has so much flavor to it, its hard to go wrong. I use 1 tablespoon to one cup of water. But when I have time, I use home made chicken stock. Just boil chicken, and 1/4 piece of onion, 3 garlic cloves halved or minced, 1 tsp. Cumin, and the tomatoe and chicken bullion (Depending on how much stock you have). You really shouldn't use garlic powder, its not authentic at all, and if you have fresh garlic, it really will make the rice taste so much better.

**If you want the rice to turn out perfect (I cheat so much lol but I swear by this) purchase a rice cooker. I boil 5 cups of water along with 2 cloves garlic, 1/4 piece of onion, 5 tbsp. Tomato bullion, and 1 tbsp. chicken bullion.  wait until it comes to a boil, add about 2 cups of white long grain rice, and the hot boiling water to the rice cooker, and press cook. 20 minutes and it turns out perfect. my rice cooker also has a keep warm option, so it stays warm while I finish the rest of dinner. Its so easy, and turns out perfect every time.

If you want more mexican recipes feel free to email me. I have a ton of them. good luck.

  2. Use 1 bullion cube per cup of water, or 1 tsp of refrigerated bulk bullion per cup of water.

  3. I usually throw a tablespoon per cup because the calla de pollo is kinda weak...at least to me.  Try that out --- just make a little at a time  (1c broth/1c rice) - or less.

  4. three times as much liquid as rice. for flavor, try 1 cup crushed tomatoes, 2 cups water, 1 tbl garlic powder, 2 tsp grd cumin, 2 tsp grd corriander, 2 tsp salt and 1 tsp pepper. cook the rice at low temperature and mix the rice once in the middle of the cooking time.

  5. you are making it all wrong! who told you to add onion powder gross! Or cumin? this sounds like the recipe on the back of a box.  Next time if you are going to make it like that use a box save yourself the trouble it will taste the same.
