Question:

How much can I expect to pay a salon to travel to me for my wedding day?

I guess it depends on how many stylists will need to come. It's about a 45 minute drive each way. I have no idea what to expect as far as a travel fee goes. I mean, I know it takes time and money for them to travel, so I know it will be something! Any thoughts? Thanks!

  1. If you go through a salon you are going to pay 100s of dollars.  Instead why not call a local beauty college.  I bet they will have student willing to come for cheaper.  Set up trials runs so they know exactly how you want your hair done, and that way you can see how it is going to look.

Also ask around to see if any friends or family have a relative that is a stylist.  They may do it on the side cheaper than going through a salon.

    Good luck!

  2. It really depends on a lot of different factors, such as what part of the country you live in, and how many stylists you want.

I would imagine that they would charge you for travel/gas expenses.  The IRS going rate for mileage is .58 cents per mile, so that might be a good way to judge it.

Additionally, traveling stylists cost more than those at the salon, so you can expect to pay anywhere between $100-$200 for hair, and more if you are using a hair sylists and makeup artist.

The best thing to do would be to call around and speak with a few places, and make your decision after you know what is available.

  3. It's hard to say.  All stylists are different.  Some might charge for your hair and then an extra fee for travel.  In other cases, you might be able to work out a package deal.  If you have so many people getting their hair done (say the bride and all the bridesmaids) they might waive the fee or it might be included the "quote" your given when you make a reservation.

In a case like this, your best bet is to call.  Plus, it's going to be different everywhere you go and you're not going to get a good answer here.   The cost of living and gas is different everywhere, so prices are going to vary a lot.   Try TheKnot.com board in your area.  You might have better luck getting good information from them.
