How much can I rent apartment in San Jose Costa Rica?

Question

I want to go for one month with my kids to costa rica in the summer and stay in the capital or very close to it....what can I get for one month furnished? would even love to live there but I hear that registering american kids there that are already in school in US is a real pain. my hubby is from there but has no time to go in summer time with us. please any real advice, like things to do there and how far can I stretch my money also what could I as an american do there for a part time job.....how about a resort/hotel? thanks for any advice!!

Go to www.economicos.com, where it says categorias go to propiedades en alquiler and over there choose either apartamentos or casas (apartments or houses) for rent. That website belongs to Costa Rica's La Nacion, biggest newspaper there. Good Luck...

Rent in San Jose is high by Costa Rican standards, but  low by US standards even though they usually try to overcharge gringos.  I had a simple, unfurnished 2-bedroom house with a small yard in a nice neighborhood for $300/mo, and I gathered that this was no bargain by local standards. This was a few years back.

Unless you have to be in San Jose for some reason, you might be better off in a small town- they're usually cheaper and nicer than San Jose.
