Question:

How much can a college teacher expect to earn?

... In the UK. I have been offered a teaching position in a higher/further education college. If you don't know a general figure, then would you have a guess at a salary range per year?

Answer in £ pounds, answers like 'In the states you could earn $' won't be accepted.

  1. It all depends on what discipline you will work in.  Most professors of hard sciences (biology, math, engineering, chemistry, etc.) make more money than those in the soft sciences (humanities, philosophy, etc).  Although, faculty salaries are public knowledge, so you can go on the website of the university that you are interested and check the human resources pages.


  2. I believe the starting salary for a NQT is £20,000, (£24,000 in London)

    I plan to start my Teaching degree next year and the TDA website is fantastic source of information. Highly recommended
