my son's school recently laid out a plan to remove half size of campus lawn of 2420 square meters, in order to build an outdoor makeshift field for sport use while the new indoor stadium is under construction. We alI know any green can help absorb co2, wholesome to all inhabitants, but I need solid figures in my statement to convice other parents and school master to keep the whole lawn intact. Please help!

  1. They can mitigate for this by planting trees.

    From the first site, below:

Dave Nowak, a researcher at the U.S. Forest Service's Northern Research Station in Syracuse, New York has studied the use of trees for carbon sequestration in urban settings across the United States. A 2002 study he co-authored lists the Common Horse-chestnut, Black Walnut, American Sweetgum, Ponderosa Pine, Red Pine, White Pine, London Plane, Hispaniolan Pine, Douglas Fir, Scarlet Oak, Red Oak, Virginia Live Oak and Bald Cypress as examples of trees especially good at absorbing and storing CO2. Nowak advises urban land managers to avoid trees that require a lot of maintenance, as the burning of fossil fuels to power equipment like trucks and chainsaws will only erase the carbon absorption gains otherwise made.

  2. 2420 square meters will be of no help against global warming. Global warming is a myth created by polititions as a way to controll the population and tax them more.

  3. it's not just good for CO2 it also helps to drain rain water to prevent flooding. places flood alot easier these days due to people digging up their lawns and replacing them with drives. if people dug up their drives and replaced them with lawns we wouldn't have such bad flooding.
