  1. depending on how long youve been on the force, it can really add up. many SF Bay Area agencies pay around $80k after the academy; after a certain amount of time spent with a department your pay-grade goes up by a percentage.. also, police schedules usually are formatted in working 4-5 days, 10-12 hour shifts and then you get 3-5 days off. anytime worked beyond those 4-5 days is paid over time (the good kind of P.O.T.).

    I know officers in a certain south bay department who have worked 30 days straight and made bank. the most ive heard an officer making in a year with regular and overtime is about $145k
