How much can an animator earn?

Question

Kind of a vague question really, but my boyfriend is studying arts and animation and wants to work on doing CG(?) and stuff for movies (I don't know what he's talking about half the time, but its cute) and he he just wants to know how much they'll earn a year and stuff?

my brother works for a well known company in the uk and earns about 50k
