I work full time for a kitchen company, my earnings vary between £400-£450 a week (before tax). I am usually taxed around 26-28%. I had a very good week and have earnt myself £1100 this week, but i dont know what amount to expect once tax has been taken away. Does anyone have any idea?

  1. your personal allowance for this year is £6035 divide this by 52 and thats £116 pay per week free from tax, the rest is taxed at 20% so it should be around £787 take home, but thats not including national insurance.

  2. If you get payed that much a week why are you worried about tax

  3. Think like an M.P. and put it down as expenses and with the help of a good ( or bad! ) accountant you wont pay any!

  4. Imput figures into www.listentotaxman.

Edit: The £6035 doesn't come into effect until September, so for deduction purposes take your free pay as £5435 for the moment, as that is what deductions are based on currently.

  5. Your tax should be charged at a similar % as your lesser weeks, it will only change (increase) if you were to continue to earn a £1,000 a week for an extended period of time, potentially taking you into the 40% tax bracket.
