Can I buy a weekly pass for this? Is it cheaper to get a weekly one than buy a daily pass when taking the Metro/RER or Bus in Paris? Where can I purchase this in advance? Please help. Thank you.

  1. There is no Carte Orange anymore -

Don't trust all the traps of  fares -

And seriously think about  10 tickets - 11€10 - never simple enough - You can buy them in bar-tabacs

  2. Yes there is a weekly pass called the Carte Orange. there is a one day pass called a Mobilis. You can also buy a "carnet" of ten tickets which can be used at any time.

Which method you use of buying tickets depends on how often you will be using public transport. There is a further complication in that the Carte Orange is sold for a specific (Monday thru Sunday) period and not just any given period of seven consecutive days.

Weekly and daily passes are a good buy only if you plan on using public transport frequently. Consdier the number of trips you will make each day of your stay and do the math based on the costs below.

A weekly Carte Orange costs 16.30 euros.

    A Mobilis costs 5.60 euros

A carnet of 10 tickets costs 11.10 euros

A single ticket costs 1.50 euros

The above costs are based on travel in zones 1-2 which includes all of the city of Paris proper.

All forms of passes and tickets can be bought from any ticket booth in the Metro, from automated ticket machines in stations or from a Tabac (a cafe licensed to sell cigarettes. They are also licensed to sell lottery tickets and transport tickets/passes).

It is actually possible to purchase tickets in advance thru designated agents abroad  but buying them is so easy and convenient at the point of use that it makes absolutely no sense to do so.
