I know a mand and his wife who have been living in an appartment for 1 yeard with thier 3 doughters. Located in Hemet, California. The owner has apparantly lost the place. A realtor paid them a visit the other day and asked them how much $$ they wanted in order for them to leave the premises. How much money can this family ask for in this situation. They are left in a bad position because they are not well off due to financial problems and they will probably have trouble coming up with downpayment for their new place. thanks in advance...

  1. if a apartment complex is sold to a new owner that wants to tear down

to build something else you could ask for up to $5000 depending how much the rent is in the first place you can consider having to a hardship in the first place so reasonable you could ask for moving expenses really depends on were they are planing to move to, so with most places ask for first last and deposits

plus truck rental and labor, gas anywhere from$3000-$5000 is not unreasonable

make sure they use that money to move cause if they just go buy c**p they will wind up homeless with kids, and since they were paid to move out that's a contract, he can kick them out  when the time comes, have your friend look around for a new place get the prices from lowest to highest and pick one in the middle which would be reasonable.

    hope this helps

  2. Ask for a security deposit and moving expences and the firsts months rental of the new home.

  3. you can ask for as much as realtor is willing to pay.  if you  have a lease you do not have to leave.  maybe  a good starting point would be 6 months rent or mortgage payment of the new apartment plus moving expenses.  if he really wants you out, he will give it to you.  also  you need to get the security deposit returned to you. good luck

  4. At the foreclosure all leases are wiped out.  No one has to offer the tenants anything. It is a nice gesture to offer them something for their troubles.  $500 seems good.

  5. Honestly, they HAVE to leave.  The sheriff will throw them out if push comes to shove.   They have no legal right to be in the house.

The realtor is making nice, trying to help and keep things quiet and easy for the kids.   Hemet is very low income, I am going to guess the house is a very inexpensive house.

Usually the banks offer, I have never heard of "how much do you want?"

They may get about 1,000.   But, since they were asked they should ask for 2,000.   It will end up being roughly 1 months rent.

But, if they are thinking of refusing they will end up with nothing, and an eviction on their record, making renting almost impossible in the future.

  6. Have them find another place, then ask the realtor to pay their downpayment on the new place and cover their moving costs.
