Question:

How much can you expect to get when you sell your wedding gown?

I'm considering purchasing the designer gown I'm in love with, rather than having it re-made. How much can you/did you get back when you sold it after the wedding? My guess would be half, but I wanted others' input.

Thanks!

  1. im not selling my dress i plan on having my childrens baptismal outfits made out of it. not sure if that will work out but thats my idea for now.. lol..

i paid alot for my dress i doubt i would get anywhere near what i paid for it... so id rather keep it and make something sentimental out of it.

  2. little over 1/2 - ebay buyers kinda like to low ball you - try craigs list

  3. I think it depends on the dress and the condition its in.

    :D

  4. depends on the dress. Who designed it... etc...

but either 50-70% of what you bought for it,

  5. Depends on the dress, the age, the style, and the condition.  You can start at 25% off but realistically it would be down to 60%.  and there is just a chance it may not sell also.

  6. Wedding gowns do not hold any value. The most you can expect to get for it is $300 at most. They are literrally thousands of wedding gowns on ebay and craigslist.

    Good luck

EDIT to add: People that have $1000 for a  gown do not buy it on used on ebay. Many brides hope for the same thing as you, but sadly, the truth is that no one pays $1000 for a used dress from a stranger. It's the truth. The only ones that are actually sold are the ones moderatly priced. If you think that you can get 1k for an used garment, go ahead, but do not hold your breath.
