I am going to NYC on Sunday and I am thinking of hitting up a broadway show but I don't know if I can wait in line and things for the first come first serve cheaper tickets. How much are scalped tickets for various shows and are they safe to buy?

  1. Usually they are more expensive than buying them from the theater.

Someone buys them and sells them for a profit.

Go online. You can buy tickets there.

    Google broadway shows.

  2. TKTS is a very easy thing to do, usually requires no waiting IF you time it right. If you go up about an hour before showtime, no line and you can just walk up. P.S. TKTS is a cash only thing, so make sure to have about 80 with you!

TKTS nor scalpers are NOT the way to go, BTW. Buy in advance! You are probably thinking- ummmm, over a hundred bucks a ticket when I can get it half price day of? Well, meet http://www.broadwaybox.com/

it has discounts codes for half price of less for getting tix online! Same price as TKTS but your ticket is secured at the box office! Also you get more say in seating this way.

Don't want to get tickets in advance? Okay. Before resorting to TKTS,  try a rush or lottery for a show.

Most are mad cheap and some are pretty much easy.

If you have questions on anything Broadway, seating, show selection, TKTS, scalpers, lotteries, rushes, etc... email me at dogsbyaccident@yahoo.com and I'll be more than happy to answer the questions.

  3. Scalpers buy tickets to hard-to-get shows, and sell them for WAY over the price printed on the ticket.  Often, these are also FAKE tickets - you cannot use them.  GO stand on line at the TKTS booth.  If you had planned earlier, you would have had more options.   I take HUNDREDS of students each year to shows - been doing that since 1973.  I also go on my own many times a year.  There are deals - but scalping is the ANTI-deal!
