I live with just my father and I'm wondering how much he can earn and if I would receive a grant or not? I'm not really sure how the FAFSA process works.

  1. There are many things that affect your eligibility.  When you apply for financial aid, income and assets, as well as the number of family members in the household, and the number attending college will be considered in determining your eligibility.  I recommend filling out the FAFSA at: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. This is the best way to find out if you are eligible for grants - money that you don't have to pay back and student loans.

  2. There is not a set amount or a cutoff.  The easiest way to determine if you qualify is to apply and see what they say.  Most schools and scholarship applications require to to apply for fafsa anyway.  If you are going to be a senior in high school, it's too early for you to apply yet.. but you can get an estimate of your fin aid eligiblity by doing the Pre-fafsa... called the fafsa4caster.  Here are some good links.
