How much capital is available for investment, but not invested in the united states?

Essentially how much money is on the sidelines waiting for solid investment opportunities, or the stock market to rebound. Does anyone track this metric, and if so, how do they track it?

the closest you'll get to actual figure will come from this web site.  check the "US Direct Investments Abroad" and compare those numbers with maybe M2 money supply?  

i'm not an economist so i'm not positive but look at what M1, M2 and M3 money supply figures are and draw your own conclusions.
