  1. Sugar Gliders need A LOT of attention, and lots of work.

  2. I fostered a pair of gliders, this is what I learned:

Food prep takes approx 45 minutes a day between cutting, washing, cleaning dishes, mixing etc. And, their diet must be rotated regularly.

Playtime takes at least 2 hours a night, usually between 1130 and 3am. Cage cleaning can take between 1 and 2 hours, depending on size. And then theres the bonding. Suggies should be in a bonding pouch for at least 3 hours a day with you.

The cost is another concern, food alone can be up there, and if you ever have to take them to the vet, it can get very expensive very quickly.

If you are educated properly, have the time, space, and money, they're well worth it.

  3. Not much... commercial glider food and vitamins are about $68 a year for TWO gliders (or for two years for ONE glider)... otherwise, all they need is a slice of white bread without the crust every other day and 1/4 to 1/2 an apple a day, a few toys (rules for toys you can make or buy anywhere can be found at the website below, as can toys themselves and special running wheels) and they need play tiem because they are very social animals... otherwise, a couple of bonding pouches so they can be with you wherever you go if you choose and a cage with a heat rock and a small blanket to curl up in and they are happy... VERY low maintenance and no vet bills, even! Check out the site below for more info...

  4. I heard they pee everywhere.
