We just got a pool this weekend and can't seem to find the directions for the chlorine. The pool is 12 ft. around and 3 ft. deep. Thanks.

  1. Assuming that the thing is circular, the diameter is about 4 feet, so the volume is about 35 cubic feet.  This is about one metric ton of water, so to get a chlorine level of one part per million (which is standard), you need one gram of elemental chlorine.  A half cup of chlorine bleach, once a week, should do the trick.

  2. I am not getting the same volume as the other two answers, but 3.14 * 6 squared * 3 feet * 7.48 is 2537.9 gallons.  Your pool 2538 gallons to the brim and will need 2.8oz of sodium hypochlorite 12.5% to attain 1ppm.  Normal chlorine levels are 1-3ppm with 5 max.

Check Home Depot/Lowes they have good prices on 10% sodium hypochlorite or you can use unscented bleach but you will pay more and have to use a larger dose.

    You're welcome!!

  3. Your pool is about 300 gallons. Use about 1/4 cup of bleach. This will bring your chlorine up to about 4ppm. Any higher could possibly be hazardous.
