  1. Denver has a dry cold and Chicago has a damp (humid) cold. So the temps in Denver rarely unbearable due to the humidity levels. Plus being closer to the sun..........it really warms things up.

  2. I live in Denver and grew up in Chicago. Let me break it down for you: Denver is much milder than Chicago.

    1. The air is dry, so it feels warmer.

    2. It's usually in the 40s-50s in January. Sometimes if's bitter cold (like 0), but it's rare.

Yes, it's unpredictable, but overall there are 300 days of sun per year. However, if you go up into the mountains it's cooler. The temp drops about 3 degrees every thousand feet you go up. All in all, I'll take Denver weather over Chicago any day.

  3. It's more unpredictable and the weather does fluctuate a lot. In Denver, freak weather is a common occurrence. For instance, in mid-January this year the temperature dipped below 0 F in Denver, for a couple of days. And blizzards are very common too.

  4. It can get pretty cold here, especially in the bitter winter months, although i'm sure Chicago is colder because of the humidity, and how close it is to Lake Michigan.

  5. heck yes Denver gets that cold frequently. the main difference between Denver and Chicago is the humidity.  Denver doesnt usually get the windchill that Chicago gets either, but Denver sometimes has sub-zero temps in the winter.

  6. Chicago would definitely feel colder because of the humidity there.

You can always track the temps in both areas here:

    For Chicago: http://www.dexknows.com/Chicago-IL.html

Another thing, in the rockies the weather does change a lot.

  7. I grew up in Denver, never been to Chicago but I'm sure Chicago is colder because of Lake Michigan and the wind, haha Windy City.

It is unpredictable, 30s and low 40s as I remember.

  8. It is NOT colder in Denver than it is in Chicago.

I think the overnight low temps may be a bit colder sometimes because Denver is basically desert, but the daytime temperatures are like 10-15 degrees warmer than you get in Chicago in the winter.

Like in Denver it would be 20 at night, 45/50 in the day. Chicago it would be 20 at night, 30/35 in the day. Denver does have a lot of days that are only 20s for the high, but not as often as in Chicago.

Also its sunnier in Denver which feels warmer:)
