Do 68W's run through kicking doors down with the infantry if their stationed with them and if so do they use their weapons until someone needs medical attention or is someone always injured with need for medical care?

  1. You've been watching too many war movies.

68W are the "docs" of combat arms units, Infantry, Artillery, Armor, SF, etc...

If you are part of a team on a mission, your job is medical support!

YOU don't actually participate being a point man, kicking in doors, etc...

However, if Your team gets into a firefight or ambushed, YOU use  your weapon to defend yourself, your team members and your patient.

  2. Well, it depends on the mission and unit.

Our medics generally stick with the Platoon Sergeant and do sometimes kick in doors and assist with the raids. Of course, we cross-train everyone to be competent in every field.

You may or may not have combat injuries you need to tend to. It all depends on the situation. Your main concern when you have casualties is to provide medical support. But when there are no casualties, you're another shooter.
