  1. On the side I've worked the small private aircraft sales market for quite awhile where the markup is higher, but I know something about commercial sales. Commisions of 0.1 % to 1% of the final sales price is typical for a salesman, usually tending toward the lower figure. Brokers, on the other hand, who employ salesmen,  make the higher percentage (sometimes up to 5%).  The rate highly depends upon the circumstances.  There's more room for negotiation in used aircraft than new. There's also usually a flat listing and negotiating fee on top of the commission. So, if your flat fee is $1000 and you get 0.2% commission as a salesman on a $10m jet, you've made $21,000. Sell 5 units per year and you've made $100k and probably a bonus on top. Sell one a month and you'd be standing in tall cotton. Sell one a year and its still as good as being a starting copilot for a regional airline.

  2. It's generally a percentage of the cost. Right now ,even the airlines are cutting back , and selling off their assets. It might be a flat job.

  3. Aircraft sales and brokerage is a busy field right now, but you have to work with people who are already on the inside.  A sales person's commission can run hundreds of thousands of dollars for a single transaction, though the sales person may have to share it with other team members.
