How much compression (psi) can an LS-1 motor take

i want to put a supercharger on a 2002 chevy camaro with an LS-1 and i want to know how much extra psi i can safely create without blowing my motor.

  1. Max compression to start with is 8.5. Anything  above that and you are going to be replacing heads. If you want more compression  without destroying the engine, have it rebuilt to a higher compression ratio. But be prepared to spend more on gas because you will need 92 octane and better for it to run correctly.


  2. If you want to achieve anything over 11.5 : 1  to 12 : 1 compression you had best look at having the engine modified. Anything below that should be okay. The stock cylinder head gaskets are not designed to take prolonged high compression loads.

  3. same thing the guy below me said only you'll need a new heavier duty bottom end also

  4. Talk to the blower manufacturers and they will recommend a set up for your car!
