  1. First 12" is not going to be deep enough to take the stress of a clothesline. Depending on where you live it should be at least 36" below the surface of the ground. They are not required to be so large around either. However, to determine the amount of concrete that is required, you need to determine the area of the hole. Length x width x height = cubic feet (divided by 9) = cubic yards (the measurement by which concrete is measured and/or sold.)

  2. About five sixty pound bags.

  3. You have about 1cubic foot to fill X 2 . Check the cement bag

how much would that cover. You should buy ready mix.

  4. If you are using a 3 or 5inch pole a 12inch hole is plenty. the strength will be from the depth of the hole. 36 inches deep should be plenty and take about 200 pounds dry concrete mix plus water per post.

  5. You can buy a cheap contractor calculator under 20 bucks it easily answers all related stuff, if I had mine near by I could tell you in about 10 seconds. These are great for both contractors and homeowners. You can find them at most home improvement stores. I will answer your question a little later.

  6. go down with the concrete 3 ft not the clothes pole...the clothes pole only needs to be in a ft. or so...if you have no frost dangers then do it the way you used to do it...buy 4 bags and take back what you dont need...
