How much could it cost to have a motorbike limited from 750cc to 125cc at a garage?

The purpose of this is that in the UK if your under 21 you cant ride a bike with more than 125CC's.But it is legal to ride a higher power bike if a power limiter is fitted to make it 125CC.

The specific modal im looking at is 1995 KAWASAKI GPZ EX500 D1 500 S (price 500 pounds)

Also does anyone know if limiting a bike this much can damage it at all, or if itl make the engine sound like a bee in a tin can?

  1. You seem to have grasped the rules for now so I won't bother going into that any further.

As for wanting a "real" looking and sounding bike.

First rule is always buy a 4 stroke, never a 2 stroke.

I suggest you look at the Honda Varadero......it's a 125cc

    bike but looks bigger.

  2. You've got yourself rather confused about the learner license rules. That's not surprising - they're not simple any more.

The short answer is that you can't ride a bike over 125cc even if it's been power restricted on a learner license.

    http://www.granbymotors.co.uk/licence.ph... explains it all.

    Edit: No problem.

Although there are a few nice 125s around (e.g. Aprilia RS), in the end it's just a 125 and they're very expensive for what they are. What I'd do if I had to pass my test again, would be to buy a cheap 125, pass my test ASAP and spend the money on a bigger bike afterwards.

There aren't many good, cheap 125's around, but I'd be looking at either a Honda CG125 (if you like four strokes) or an MZ ETZ125 (if you like two strokes). Neither sound too tinny, and you'll be able to sell it for what you paid for it once you've passed your test.

  3. No chance mate.Take your test before it becomes harder in October.

  4. I do not think what asking is possible
