  1. They can be deadly. Archery should be learned by a pro.  Start with blunt tips to limit the carnage.  Be careful & shoot at targets only.  Have fun

  2. A bow with a full quiver of arrows was the native americans weapon of mass destruction and that is why europeans had to preemptively shoot  them.

  3. It can puncture the skull of a rapist pretty d**n well I tell you what!

  4. A quality bow and arrow in the hands of an experienced hunter can kill just about any animal a gun can. (I would advise against elephants and rhinos). Remember that before the white people came to America, my ancestors (native americans) were killing buffalo with them. A beginner's bow and arrow set at Wal-Mart can start at $50, and would be good for rabbit-size game. A bow big and powerful enough to take down a deer would start at about $300 and go up from there.

  5. depends on the material?

  6. With a real bow (anything over 20 pounds of draw weight)...Enough damage to make even a brain-fried, doped-up crackhead take notice, so long as you hit the freak with the arrow. Even with a blunt-tipped arrow. Seriously.

But it is illegal to shoot people with bow/arrow, the above comment is just for the sake of demonstration. A 25 lb draw bow, with a good, sharp broadheaded hunting arrow, is enough to kill a small elk when shot with deadly accuracy in the right place (I do not suggest trying it, though, for the sake of the animal and to keep yourself out of jail).

You can get a bow and arrows at many places: Wal-Mart (cheap bows, mostly low quality); Sportsman's Warehouse (better quality, not much choice in brands/types); Cabela's/Bass Pro/Gander Mountain/etc (mostly compounds, and they'll sell you what they think you want - not what you need - if you don't already know what you are looking for). The best place to get a good-quality bow and arrows is an archery store, where archery is the focus (instead of just another "department"); one of the best on-line suppliers is 3Rivers Archery

    http://www.threeriversarchery.com/

and there are hundreds of custom bowyers as well.

There are more than just three types of bow, also: Longbow, Recurve, Compound, Flatbow, Horsebow, Crossbow...there might be a few other types, as well. And then there are the sub-types: Composite, Reflex, Deflex, Reflex-deflex, Working Recurve, Non-working Recurve, Self bows, Backed bows...the list almost seems endless. Each type/sub-type has its advantages and disadvantages, and each delivers its own amount of "damage" depending on the arrow used, how it is used, the conditions it is used in, etc.

The cost of a bow depends on who made it, how it was made, what it is made of, etc. Higher quality bows from Bear Archery cost upwards of $1300 -- while middling-average quality bows from PSE cost as little as $80 (or less). It depends on what you ***want*** in a bow.

Which brings us to which one is "best"... There is no overall "best" bow, except the one ***you*** think is "best". True, there may be one particular kind of bow which is best for one particular kind of use, but there is no one best kind of bow for ***all*** uses. It dpends almost entirely on what you like/want in a bow.

The best arrow to use is always the one which is matched to the bow/archer/use combination. There is no room for personal preference there, no matter what material the arrow may be made of. An arrow made specifically for hunting with an off-the-shelf recurve will probably perform fine with an Olympic recurve (maybe), but the arrow made for the Olympic recurve will most likely not perform well with the off-the-shelf recurve -- they are designed differently.

I hope this helped to answer your questions.

  7. um...damage to what?

  8. a lot of damage and it takes practice to know how to use it

  9. Enough damage with a broad head tip. In bows, I have never noticed any difference in brands, but there are three types. Recurve, compound, and cross bow. Recurve are the medieval sort, compound is like a recurve, but it has gears and packs more of a punch, and crossbows are like a gun/bow mix with a scope. In my opinion, the compound is best for up to 30 yard shots, then cross bows are the best for 30+ yard shots. Most go for around $200-$300. Any sports supplier should have them in stock. If there are no sport suppliers in your area, try Walmart.

  10. It can easily stab somene lol

  11. What are you trying to damage?

  12. They can cause a great deal of damage if you have a high enough poundage set (poundage is how much weight you pull back)

you can buy a bow and arrows at Cabelas, Fleet Farm, or sporting good stores. A good brand of bows is Mathews or Genisus.

If you do plan on getting a bow please practice and use it for correct uses and not just to goof around or anything. Maybe you could find a local archery club and ask members there to help you out?
