How much damage does cigarette litter cause?

Today me and some friends of mine went to the park. You should have seen all of the cigarette butts that was on the ground when we left.

  1. I would say probably not too awful much. Most of the elements that make up a cigarette break down very easily paper, tobacco, cotton (some filters made out of cotton). All these things are found naturally on the earth and within a few years I would say that they would be gone. If you look at a cigarette that has been rained on a few times you can see that their is hardly anything left of it.


  2. every other piece of trash is a cigarette butt.

    i don't even want to think about the wrappers and CO2

  3. Sounds like you left quite a few cigarette butts before you left.

  4. They're made of cellulose.  They'll degrade, however smokers should be more responsible.
