Question:

How much did Jeter's play hurt?

Runner on first, double play depth, ground ball right to jeter. Instead of charging the ball he sat back and waited for it. Toss to Cano, relay to first-Safe! A couple of steps coming in may have prevented that from snowballing , as it did, into three first inning runs.

  1. Baseball injuries are so lame:

  2. Dude they lost by seven runs.

  3. Maybe Ponson should strike guys out instead of relying on his defense. Oh wait, that didn't work either. Hmm,  I guess that's just a mental error and as you can see the Yankees never recovered.

  4. I think it was a huge mistake.  It opened the doors for the runs that came after and it gave the Sox momentum. I guess he underestimated the speed of the runner. I'll tell ya..it was a huge relief for us Sox fans!  We knew the team had to get runs early to win the game.  Thanks Jeter!  :)

  5. It was huge because maybe because of that play the Bo Sox gained momentum. Also it kept the inning alive and Manny and Ortiz wouldn't of scored. Than the Yanks could have gone in to the next inning feeling good about themselves.

  6. It hurt them, no doubt, but it's hard to say what the game would have looked like if he had made the double play.

The Yankees obviously were not going to win every game from here on out.  8 in a row was HUGE for their confidence, and they have won all of their series since the All Star break, which is also huge.  I am predicting at least 2 wins against Baltimore.

They are only 2 back from Boston and 3 back from Tampa Bay.  This is going to be a very interesting stretch heading into October, that's for sure!
