When I was pregnant with my son, I had a rough pregnancy and a lot of personal problems. I turned to food. I gained about 60-70 lbs. Right after I had him, before I left the hospital, I had lost 30 lbs. What would cause such a huge loss? My son was 7.5 pounds. Is it normal to lose that much w/in days after giving birth? I did not have toxemia or any type of medical complication.

  1. your lucky I gained 50 lbs and lost maybe 20?

  2. I gained 60lbs while pregnant and lost 50lbs of it within the first three weeks. The majority of it was water weight - I was *incredibly* swollen.

  3. my daughter weighed 8 lbs 1 oz and i gained 17 pounds with her and before i got home in the 2 days i was in the hospital i lost 25 lbs

  4. I heard the average is like 15-20 pounds.

  5. I also lost 30 lbs in the hospital.  Most of it was obviously water weight.  My entire body was swollen prior to delivering my son.  Between the sweaty legs and the excessive peeing, it was all water.

  6. you have the weight of the placenta and amniotic fluid to take into account too, plus alot of blood loss.  I lost 20 lbs right off the bat and within a week of being home I weighed less than I did before I got pregnant thanks to the breast feeding!
