Trying to get a feel for the market to see if I overpaid. :(

What's the brand etc. and price of your saddle, if you don't mind?

  1. $850...but thats because it was new and thats also for the bridle and a martingale that i don't even use. so maybe...600 or 500

  2. Depending on the shape it's in, that's a good deal, particularly if it came with a nice bridle. (You're having buyer's remorse, don't second guess yourself! I do that all the time...).  The important thing is that the saddle fits your horse properly.

  3. i paid 650 for just the saddle, even at a tent sale. it is a kincade indian leather saddle, and it is a discontinued saddle.

  4. http://astore.amazon.com/sfaehorse08-20/...

All you can do is shop and compare.

If your happy it was a good deal.

  5. used dressage saddle: $300

  6. I buy all of my saddles on ebay.

Pessoa A/O on ebay range from 800-1200, tack shop = 2200

    County Stabilizer ebay = 1800-2200, tack shop = 3400

    Tad Coffin A5 ebay = 2500-3000, order new = 4200

What did you get and what did you pay for it? We can tell you if you overpaid.

ADD: I don't usually deal in Stubben's, but it looks like that saddle new is about $2000. And yours included a bunch of extras, so I would say you got a pretty good deal, assuming it's in good condition. You probably see some cheaper stuff on ebay cuz everything is going pretty cheap these days) I got a pair of custom Vogel tall boots ($1500 new) for $200!

  7. I paid 720 for a used collegiate dressage saddle and that didnt include anything. I had to buy stirrups and leathers and everthing else separate :D

  8. Well back in 1972 I paid $295.00 for a 3 yr old Stubben Siegfried with leathers, irons, breast plate, hunt bridle, sheepskin (The real item) and a baker blanket.

I still have the saddle, bridle and breast plate...  Bridle's a bit worn out now...Baker got attacked by mice in '83, not sure what happened to the sheepskin pad...

If we use the cost of gas going up since that time as a cost of living/buying tack, then YES you got one heck of a deal!  If you manage to keep your's as long as I've had mine, then it will more than enough have paid for itself.

  9. i got a used crosby saddle for just $900 (they are worth up to $2000)

and that included a, girth, stirrup leathers, stirrup irons, and a saddle pad. it was actually a great deal because the saddle still looked new

  10. I bought a saddle that is off brand, (but very cute!) i found it off of craigslist.com and went to the ladys house and bought it for $150

it is in brand new condition and came with the stirrups and leathers and a girth that happened to fit my pleasure horse!

There is no marked brand on the saddle. but it is in good condition and looks good! all i had to do was buy a black bridle to match it!

since i don't ride english other then to show (and practice in it) i don't really need to get one that is very expensive.

Good Luck, you have a VERY nice saddle and are lucky to be able to afford something like that.

  11. $200 unknown brand, old but has stood up VERY well to abuse.

    I went cheap lol

  12. I have a treeless dressage that I LOVE and I got it for $450.  My other cutback, well broken in and from England, I got for $100.

  13. i paid about 900 dollars for my stubben

  14. That is an amazing deal! A stubben is a really expensive type of show saddle! Some stubben saddles by them selves are about $1000.00!

  15. My bf bought me a Crosby softride with the works-leathers, irons, girth, etc. and it was about 2,000

Seems like ya still got a good deal!

  17. I got a brand new Pessoa A/O for $1800 in nov.

    Its now $2200.

You got a good deal on your saddle.

I wis i oculd have gotten my saddle that cheap!

  18. about 700  Griffen Broadback

  19. I think you did well if the saddle is in good condition.

A new Stubben can run around $2000 retail for just the saddle.

I paid around $1000 for my Stubben dressage saddle from E-bay.

If you got everything else with it and its good stuff, I'd say you got a good deal.

  20. Sounds like a great deal to me - Stubben Siegfrieds are going for £790/$1500 in my local saddlery - plus you got all the extras with it (and Stubben is always expensive); well done!

I've bought saddles on ebay, but I've never paid less than half the recommended retail price - if it's going for less it's usually not in such good condition, and you can't usually go and look at it first.

  21. Great deal for the brand. And all of the stuff you got.

I went to can auction and got a Stubbon Close contact Saddle.

Just the saddle and pain I think $345. But since you got all of that its awesome.

I would pay that, and I'm a very cheap person.

  22. I have a wintec 500 all purpose.  It was on sale the day we baught it for 500. and then we knew the owner of the place really well so we got it for 375.  The next day it went up to 1000 dollars.  But it was just the saddle and the gullet system stuff.  No stirrups, no stirrup leathers either.
