  1. never paid a vet for ear mites. olive oil sufficates them and works great (the mites)

  2. for my cat, I paid $60.

that was the exam, the ear flush, andthe medicine.

the second round I just did it myself.

  3. 14.00 dollars for a tube of Revolution.

  4. Normally, a vet will not treat a cat without a physical check up.  So that becomes a basic fixed cost for anything.  If the ears have to be cleaned first, that could be perhaps $10-20.  Normally one treatment is all that is needed, and that could be another $10.

As in anywhere, vet costs vary considerably.

There are a number of approaches to ear mites.  Olive oil will smoother them, but if their ears are really dirty, a cleaning is needed to make sure there are no infections.  My cat had a single miticide (ivermectin) treatment, but now many also use things like Revolution.

  5. Revolution is fantastic and cheap too. You put that on the back of their neck and you don't have to clean the ears if the cat won't let you - (mine's a tazmanian devil if you get a Q-tip near her so it was a real plus to me). It's prescription though I think so you'll have to at least talk to a vet to get a script.
