Mine was $2500 in one store, $1849 in another store and my future mother in law made a replica for $129 and it's perfect, I'm sooo happy :)

  1. You are so lucky that you had a Mother in Law that was so talented.

I got married right after Christmas and wanted a velvet wedding dress.  I couldn't find one so I made my own too and it cost me $189 with everything.  It was gorgeous and I got to add pearls and rhintestones to it.  Nobody could believe I made it.

In my opinion, this is definitely the way to go.  I can't even comprehend spending over $500 on a wedding dress when there are so many places that will make a "look a like' or designer inspired wedding dress for a fraction of the cost.

Every bride should have the wedding dress of her dreams whether she can afford a designer gown or not.

  2. Original $800. Had a short sale for $500. (numbers are rounded to whole doller).

    Love it!

Not sure if one day I will make it into another dress or clothing for children etc. Don't want to go to waste sitting in a closet for ever. I doubt my girls would want to ware it for their own wedding as I imagine they will have their own tastes. So we will see what the future brings.

  3. Good for you!  My mom and I made my dress and it cost about $100.00 in total for all the materials.  She's a professional seamstress who's done costume design and I did all the hand stitching and embroidery and put the pearls on it.  It's always good to have talented family members.  :)

  4. Nothing. Mine was borrowed.

  5. Mine was $280, but I am thinking of buying another one that I like better...it is $800 extra.

And I love them both, but I think I love the second one more. I can justify the cost because I ask myself which dress will I be happier in, which dress do I want to be part of my memories...

  6. What an awesome MIL! So cool that she could do that!

My gown, with alterations, was close to 1,000. Totally worth it, because I'm a 'fluffy' woman, and it was a gown I thought I would never be able to have, let alone look beautiful in!

  7. Mine was $2000. I have  not worn it yet, but after 2 months of shopping and trying on a hundred +  dresses, this was IT!  I am so excited to wear it. It is the dress of my dreams in full silk...

I did not really have a dress budget set and tried on $99 gowns all the way up to a $36,000 Vera Wang. It was so fun to shop.  But once I found mine, that was it. It was the last dress I tried on and it was a day I was not even really looking because I was dress shpping wih hmy MOH. I was settled ongeting  a Casablanca dress that was $800, but there was something about it was was not 100% on. The I found "mine".

It is the most important day of our lives as women. We need to feel like royalty no matter what the cost.  I mean, when will we ever get to dress up in a ball gown ever again? For most of us, probably never.

  8. £45. It was perfect because it fit my 37-week-pregnant figure, and now I can dye it and keep wearing it.

  9. $700.00 at Mariella Creations. It was very worth it. And the first dress I picked out, and tried on at least 5 times after others. I still went back to the first one. It was perfect.

  10. mine was $500 and while i think its a bit much for one day and never to wear again i love it and wouldn't change a thing

  11. $219 including shipping for the dress, a matching jacket & matching purse.

    I'd say totally worth it.

  12. $140 dollars, not worth it - I still need to buy a jacket (would it kill them to sell dresses that could be worn on their own?), and I don't think I'm going to be able to wear it again after the wedding. Even if I am, I already own two formal dresses (three, but given that I own so many I can avoid wearing the one), so buying another is a waste of money.

  13. $350 and it ws totally worth it!  I felt just like a princess the second I put it on.  And I'm doing the keep it for my daughter thing even though she's only 5 and already it appears she's going to be way taller than me (like her dad)!

  14. Before I started dress shopping, my dress budget was 4,000 max. Turns out the dress I wanted was only about 700 or something, so that was a huge unexpected savings! It was the dress I wanted. I didnt sacrifice anything.

  15. My dress was $350.... and it was custom made just for me. It was white with red trim and a red panel... it had a lace up back and beautiful beadwork... it was so inexpensive cuz i'm 4ft 10in lol  they use way less fabric when you're a little person lol  but yes it was worth that and then some.

  16. mine was $700 and i bought it off the rack so i only paid $350 !!!!!  i was excited

  17. I originally saw mine for 1200 dollars in white, but found the exact same dress in ivory at another store for 450, plus any alterations were included in the price!

Congrats! And you're very lucky to have a talented mother-in-law!
