  1. My engagement ring is platinum engagement ring which cost me around $5250 you can check out :

  2. You know, I really have no idea how much he paid for it...I just remember having the worst headache of my life when I went with him to pick it out because I couldn't justify him spending even $100 on something that sits on my finger all day long.  I wanted him to just get me a cheap one at Claire's or whatever, but he insisted on getting me a real diamond, so I picked the ring that I thought was the most beautiful, and also the most practical and functional for my lifestyle, and I love it.  But honestly, he could have gotten me a $3 mood ring for all I care, and that's the truth.

  3. About $7,500.

Woah, AinePrie...hit a nerve? She didn't ask if anyone thought the price of the ring correlated to the depth of the man's love. Some people are just curious, and this is an anonymous forum, and some people have no idea how much these things cost, and are just looking for ideas of what to expect so they aren't blindsided when they go to a jeweler.

I remember when I went looking for my wedding gown. I had no idea what to expect. When I looked at the price of the gown I loved, and it was $750. I almost threw up literally. I had to leave the store in a hurry to get some fresh air! I wish I had asked a similar question up front so I would have an idea of what to expect.

  4. my engagement ring costed about $7000.00 but my husband paid cash and got $1000.00 off ..always ask what kind of deal you can get if you pay cash because you can save a lot that way! :) you can also find really pretty less expensive rings! when you look at a ring you can't tell the cut, quality and color ..it's more about what you love!!

  5. My fiance payed 2700 for my engagment ring. It has 5 diamonds that go into the shape of a shooting star. The diamonds total to a litte more than a carat. And its 14k white gold.

  6. I purchased my wifes engagement ring in 1996 for 2500 bucks....

i was making 8 bucks an hour at the time...

I offered recently to 'upgrade' her ring, like, for a 20 year anniversary (weve been together since 1989) but she is not interested.  She really loves that I worked my *** off for the one she has on her finger, even though its not a monster ring, I worked in a small mechanic shop in Champaign all summer to buy that thing

to each their own...I dont believe in the 2.5 month of salary thing to buy somoene a ring.  if you have to look at it like that, you shouldnt be getting married...

I believe it is totally up to the man, and his feelings.  Back when I got my wife her ring, I wanted to get her the best I could afford...I did my best back then.

just for FYI.  I am making better money now, so when I did go out and look, I had my eye on a 10K ring.  I am making in the realm of 100K/year, so I suppose that equals 10% of my yearly salary....

But, she is not interested.  Like the poster above says, she is happy, and shed rather blow 10G on something, for the house!

  7. $1000 australian dollars.  When i went to try rings on, there were others there that were more expensive that i liked, but when i put them on they just didnt suit.  It was an average amount, and the ring is quality, and its what we both liked.  I dont think the cost should matter. As long as you like it and can live with it for the rest of your life it shouldnt matter if it cost 6 bucks and is a fake or cost ten thousand bucks and is the best quality diamond you can get.  I think the whole 2 or 3 months salary equivalent is a crock these days. its what you can afford.

  8. Almost $8,000.00. Which is way way way too much in my opinion. I love my fiance more than life but I could have throttled him for spending that much on a freaking ring. He explained to me that he wanted me to have the best he could afford. He didn't realise that I had something infinitely better, him.

  9. i'm not some highmatinence brat... and its beautiful!

    $200

  10. My engagement ring was $3500, as with the first poster my fiance paid cash so he didn't pay tax or anything. It was appraised for (and would cost in a jewelry store) over $6000.

A family friend of his fathers is a goldsmith so my fiance designed the ring, picked the diamond and sapphires and gold material and the jeweler made it for him for cost only, and did not charge labour.  He pretty much got the diamonds at wholesale price.

My fiance would not have been able to get me half the ring he did for that price because he only paid cost for all the stones and materials because the jeweler was a friend of his dad's and made the ring as a favour to the family.

It is an excellent cut .6 carat Canadian diamond.  F Colour (colourless) VS1 clarity.   There is a .3 carat pink sapphire on both sides of the diamond (so the total carat weight is 1.2 if you care).  The three stones are set with a trellis-style setting in white gold.

It is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.  The diamond is perfect, very high quality (I love that it is Canadian and therefore conflict free) and it sparkles across a room.  I get compliments from strangers on my ring and the sparkle of my diamond.

    Good Luck!

  11. My engagement ring was $6 at Claires.  :)  I wore it throughout my engagement, even when it turned my finger green.  And then for the wedding, my husband got us a matching set (his, my ring and my band) that cost $60 in all. All 3 rings equal up to 3 carats (my "engagement" ring equalling 2) and they are lab created Russian diamonds so noone believes me when I tell them its fake.

I didn't need and don't want a real one.  They are too expensive and that money can be spent on something more important like a house, or car payment or savings account.

  12. £145 including the insurance, at Ernest Jones.

  13. I paid $8,200. 2 and a half carat in a platinum band. Then she left, and kept it.lol

  14. Well I wanted a ring that cost $5500, and ended up with one that  was on sale for $500 ($1000 retail).  I'm actually happy that he didn't spend what I originally wanted because it is still really beautiful, and we have the other money to spend on our house, wedding, and honeymoon. :)
