Interesting question. I tried to look up the answer, but every post I could find said that Waterford Crystal will not say how much the ball is worth. It is a gift to the City of New York from Waterford, Ireland.  The amount of revenue generated by advertising and tourism each New Year's Eve is generally enough to cover the cost of manufacture.
