How much difference is there in performance between the Ping G" G5 and G10 drivers - ?

Going to upgrade my driver and just wondering whether there really is much difference between a Ping G2 G5 and the new G10 driver otherwise i might aswell get the oldest club

A lot of people would say that the G2 was Ping's first good, modern driver.

The G2 was an important club for Ping - in its day it was a watershed moment for them, but they have improved on it at various stages, hence the G5, through to G10. The G5 is quite similar to its ancestor but the internal weighting was redistributed for a lower centre of gravity. The G10 improves on the G5 with a new precision engineered face, re-designed body, and up-to-date shaft technology.

The biggest difference between them all is the playability. Yes, there are going to be distance increases between each incarnation, but the major design emphasis has been on making the clubs more easy to hit consistently. Consideirng what you would have paid for the G2 or G5 when they were new, it makes sense to get the G10 (although you should obviously try it out first, and have a go with the company's Rapture driver as well)

To be honest, I've never tried the G2 or G5...but I recently bought the G10...and its definitely longer than the Taylormade R7 I use to own...I don't hit it as consistently good...but I think that's more of club shaft issue than the actual club itself.  Overall I'm very pleased with it.

I have the complete G5 set, and I hit that driver well. I don't know how the G10 could do any better for me, but I have never tried the G10 driver.

I am a junior golfer and a long hitter. I live in england, but recently purchased the Ping G10 in Florida. My average drive has gone from around 250yards to 270yards. I understand this may be to do with me getting stronger, but this club is superb in every shape and form.

I recommend it 100%
