How much diffrent are gerbils from hamsters?

there the same type of hamster but gerbils are smallier than hamsters and hamsters have a smaller tall that gerbils and rats are bigger than both and have a long tail

There's lots of differences between gerbils and hamsters, but one big one is that gerbils live in groups and are more social. Hamsters only get together with others to mate other than that they live alone.

Hamsters are nocturnal which means they sleep in the day and not at night. Gerbils on the other hand are diurnal and like to play more in the day which means there won't be any squeaking or digging at night.

Also their appearance is different. Gerbils have soft tails and like to stand on their back legs a lot which is pretty cool! Hamsters have short tails and are fluffy and cute! If you like rats or mice then you should get a gerbil, but if you don't like them get a hamster.

gerbils are VERY different then hamsters. if not only that gerbils are day animals and hamsters night animals

hamsters don't go well in a pack where gerbils need other gerbils to feel happy

then there's also the homing of the gerbil that needs a lot more attention then a hamster home! like for example a sand bed...

hamsters are better for holding and cuddling with. gerbils arent real good thats why they are such unpopular pets. they are real fast so they cant really be held but hamster are slower.

Well first gerbils have long tails like mice and rats. Gerbils are smoother looking than hamsters and their faces are longer than hamsters, gerbils eat the same food as hamsters and they have the same things in a cage except gerbils have to have a glass cage because they chew through the plastic. - Can Run Very Fast and Jump High

- Awake more at night, but will play during the day.

- Nocturnal

- Love to Chew

- Better to get 2, because they are very social animals and will be much happier and not lonely.

HAMSTERS:

- Not a long tail

- Do not like to chew as much as gerbils

- Fluffier

- Not as fast

- You do not have to get 2!
