How much distance should i cover in a 30 minute run?

I want to eventually be able to run 5 miles in 30 min or less. I wan to be able to keep a 6;oo min constant pace.

  1. Yep.  Doing overdistance training is the best at first.  You need to be very comfortable and not fatigued when running your 5miles.  I would suggest running 8-10 miles.  Once you can do that fine, even at a slower pace, you muscles will be build for endurance.  Then do some speed work like mile repeats (Run a mile at a fast pace for multiple times with rest in between) and some hills, etc.


  2. Like the first guy said, run further than your race/goal distance. I suggest mile repeats at 6 min. pace as well.

  4. you should run more than the distance you want to run like if you want to run 5 miles in 30 minutes, try running 7 or 8 miles jog and some sprints and some race speed.
