  1. I am sorry, but I think you have to be 1/4 to get money from the goverment. At least I hope, because I am 1/16 native american and that is what the school told me.

To prove your ancestry, you could use census records, death certificates and birth certificates. That would be easier then a blood test. I am not really sure there is a blood test to find the information you want. The only ones I know of need samples from both people.

  2. You can find out all you need to know about DNA testing at

    http://www.familytreedna.org

and you can email them if you have any questions.

  3. First,  you must be a member of a Federally Recognized Tribe or Nation to receive any scholarship money.

Second, No Federally Recognized Tribe or Nation accepts DNA testing as proof of Native ancestry.

The only way to become a member of any Federally Recognized Tribe or Nation is to be able to prove a direct lineage between yourself and someone on the Tribe or Nations base roll.  For example, in order to become a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma you must have an ancestor who appears on the Dawes Roll, for the Eastern Band of Cherokee it is the Baker Roll, for the Osage Tribe of Oklahoma it is the Osage Roll of 1906. You would have to check with the Tribe or Nation you have ancestors with to see what their particular requirements are.

Proof must come in the form of birth, marriage etc certificates, and it is up to YOU to provide that proof to the membership board of the tribe you are seeking membership in.
