How much do I charge to advertise on my blog?

The blog gets 65,000 page views/page impressions a month.

I'd like to charge $500 a month for a standard side banner ad.

Over the past 6 months the blog has been growing A LOT.

The blog has been around since Dec 05.

  1. I would clean up the look a bit more and make room for advertisers and create a media kit. $500 doesn't sound too much but it does depend on how many unique visitors you get.

  2. Hi,

There are many ways to market a small business on the web.  You can buy banner ads, text links, or use PPC.  However, the best way is to get listed in a bunch of portals. Portals and directories are like phone books, and they often provide a lot of traffic because they tend to rank high on Google.

This portal is giving away a free business card holder for lising your business (I got mine a few days ago in the mail).  If you want to know about some other portals, just let me know.

  3. Knowing that a blog can be created for free, people will choose to make their own free blog and advertise on it themselves and generate traffic for themselves.

Realistically its unlikely that they'll pay $500 to advertise on a BLOG  regardless of the high viewing rate.

  4. dude for that price i will advertise on your blog lol email me powerpc@usa.com

  5. Its hard to nail down a price right away. I'd suggest start with your best guess ($500/month) and offer 1 month free to 1 or 2 companies. Then setup click tracking on those banners. You'll be able to see how many people you sent their way and then can adjust the price based on that ($1-2 per click is probably reasonable).

  6. EDIT:

I'd say you could charge as much as you want. I dnscooped (dnscoop.com) your site and it said the value of a single link on your site is only $7/month, but who knows for banners.

Start with $500 and work your way up.

Congrats on the growth, I'll be making a blog here soon and I'm hoping it takes off.

Another option for you would be text-link-ads.com and adengage.com....you get to set your own prices and they own take 25% from you. Not bad in my opinion.
