Question:

How much do I need to budget for sailing a 63' Catamaran from SE Asia to Europe?

I will be finishing the build of a boat in the Philippines that needs to be sailed back to the UK. Taking into consideration my crew will all pay for themselves, we'll be making as little pit stops as necessary and under sail most of the time, what's a ball park figure of how much the journey will cost me, E to W, 3 months, 11,100 nm.

Dose anyone have any similar experience?

  1. $26K if you're smart.  figure in the "unforeseen".  how much of a shake-down cruise are you going to do?

  2. It's not a small journey you are planning... and you want an advice from 12 year old "experts" here on Yahoo...

Better budget some money for your funeral, if Yahoo is where you get your knowledge on such a major undertaking.

  3. about the same if you were to sail a 61' catamaran from SE asia to Europe i would say.

  4. I get it...  unlike foxy here

you are in charge of ferrying the boat.

And as far as Doug goes, not all "experts on Y/A are 12.

I have sailed around the world and know the answer.

But he is right.  If you don't have a handle on this basic budgetary question, you have no business leaving your mooring.

    But..

    If you do...

Figure about $4,000 a month which should include your meals, all customs fees, potential equipment failure replacement and/or repairs and ancilliary expenses.

I assume you are passing through Suez?

Allow $1500 for the fees here.

3 months is a very optimistic time frame for your passage
