I'm having about 120 people at my wedding. The bill will reception will probably come to about $13,000. How much do I tip the maitre'd and bridal attendant?

What about the DJ?

The coat check?

Do I tip the photographer and videographer?

What about the flower lady?

I'm from Long Island...it makes a difference.

We are spending approximately $20,000-$21,000 on the wedding in total.

  1. That is a WAY to fancy wedding, my friend had a BEAUTIFUL  wedding for under 1000 dollars.  but they didnt wear those ugly white dresses, she got a peach dress.

  2. I never tipped anyone. I think they get paid very well as it is why do you have to tip them?

  3. great

  4. I usually tip $1.73 to everyone every time I get married.

  5. i don't think they're expecting a tip. Only tip them if you feel like they diserve it. Besides, i'm sure they'll be satisfied with the money your paying them already.

  6. I have never tipped anyone at a wedding. and I have been to TONS OF WEDDING.. From the Richest to the Poorest. Enjoyed Every One

    Is This something New.?

  7. If there are multiple people involved then most will include a gratuity in their pricing - caterer, florist etc

The minister or officiant should get a tip, especially if they arent charging you an arm and a leg and have done a lot of work for you.

The photographer could get a tip if you consider their work to be exquisite.

The DJ is usually a guy out on his own, tip him only if he is good, like getting the crowd going and everyone is having fun because of it.

The cake maker will have a tip built into the price unless, again, it is an exceptional piece of work.

The bartender should get one, at the very least allow him/her to put a glass out for tips.

Remember you are already paying a hefty price for a lot of these services, no tipping necessary for most.

  8. a good tip for DJ:  Third horse in the fifth race

for the coat check:   Never eat yellow snow

photographer and videographer:   Look both ways before crossing

flower lady:  Always rinse after you brush

  9. You only provide a tip to your limo driver and to your catering (usually catering will charge a 15% service fee that works as your tip).  The limo driver is also 15%.  You don't need to tip anyone else.

  14. i've never heard of tipping tipping anybody.  i'm sure they would except the tip.  good luck

  15. The reception hall should have the tip included already.  Double check first.

The DJ might get tips from the people requesting songs it is up to you.

The coat check again up to you or they might get tips other wise

    The flower lady 20%

Photographer and Videographer I would say no, but is is at your disgression

  16. I never really tipped and didn't know to since everything was so expensive to begin with.  If I'm giving the photographer $6K, why give a tip?

  17. Florist, photographers, caterers aren't tipped.

  18. The venue will probably include a gratuity and you should check with them to see if the maitre'd, bridal attendant and coat check person will get a portion of that or not.  If they are included in the gratuity amount then you need not give them extra.

I'm from Northern NJ (so not all that far from you) and here are my parameters:

If I have flowers delivered, I will be tipping $50 to the delivery person.  If I pick 'em up (or have family pick 'em up) then no tip.

DJ - tip $100 at end of night if we approve of his services

Photographer & Videographer - $100 if all seems to go well, more if they are super-pricey (my photog is just under $1k).

If you have a limo, you will need to tip the driver(s) - - $50 or $100 each would be appropriate.
