  1. that payscale .com is nice but I know plenty of architects that make more than $100,000 with less than 5yrs experience

  2. Here's a site that shows salaries based on years experience in United States:

    http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=...

    Good luck.

  3. www.salary.com is a good site to get a rough idea. it depends a lot on where you live. $100k is unrealistic until you work for more than 15 or 20 years, or maybe if you work in NYC.

Sitting at home and not doing any work is completely unrealistic. For one, you have to do a lot of hard work to build up clients and learn how to do the job. And two, just sealing/signing drawings without supervising all the process to get there is illegal.

I would probably assume you would start somewhere bewteen $30k - $40k after you finish your degree, working your way up to about $50k after about 5 years or more years.

  4. They get paid very well! You need to get your degree and then become licensed. Once you do that you can sit home and never have to really work another day in your life if you didn't want to. Just sit home and look over plans. Your signature and stamp of a set of drawings will easily be $2,000 plus! Hope that helps! Also check out salary.com
