I don't know the exact figures, but most of the pay is in the form of free room and board. This has a value of approx. 400 EUR per month. I'll estimate the pocket money to be in the range of 200-300 EUR per month, depending upon who pays for language school classes, how many hours the au-pair has to work and what extra costs (insurance, fees to the agency, etc) there are.

I had a Nanny 1995 for the whole day. I payed her 900 German Mark. Au pairs perhaps earning in a week between 150-200 Euro. Some of them need to do all the work in the house too.
