A regular meat calf would be between $50 and $150 in Canada. If you are looking for a specific breed, probably more like $350 - $500. This would be a steer, a heifer should be about the same, maybe a bit more.

I've lived on a dairy farm my whole life so i know what I'm talking about :) If you go to a farm auction you can get a young one for less then $100. You should get a Holstein if you want to make milk but if you want a really affectionate breed, get a Angus.
