alright, so i have tree frogs probably 5-6 weeks old. i've noticed that they will only eat the crickets that i kill and give to them, they cant catch the crickets by themselves [is that normal?] and i've also noticed that they've been taking the crickets i give them like twice a day, is that over feeding them? i also have 2 other tree frogs that are probably 3-4 weeks old that havent been eating the crickets i've been handing them is it because they're too small/young to eat anything? sorry for all the questions, but hopefully you can help out! thanks :]

  1. Frogs should be able to hunt for themselves. Maybe its because the crickets are too big. Feeding fruit flies is recommended. Do not hand feed the frogs.

  2. Hi amldesigns, I got my tree frogs when they were tiny too. Frogs hunting ability is based on movement (rather than smell or feel), so they will be able to hunt if you give them half a chance. Find the tiniest crickets you can and just dump them in there. The head reptile keeper at the zoo where I got mine said there's pretty much no such thing as overfeeding juvies, just make sure you ease up once they are bigger. So feeding them twice a day should be okay, as long as there are not excess bugs running around the enclosure. As the person above me mentioned you could try them on fruit flies, or flies (a good reptile place should be able to sell you dormant fly larvea that just hatch as soon as they get light and heat) or tiny woodland cockroaches, or catch them moths - mine love moths and I love to watch them stalk! Good luck
