How much do car insurance agents get paid?

My fiance & I own a small, well established independent insurance agent in Raleigh, NC. We would like to hire a licensed CSR/agent to work in our business, but have no idea what the going pay rate is in our area. Any ideas or insight would be much appreciated..

it depends...are you wanting to pay them straight salary, an hourly wage only, or partial commissions?  I can tell you most places in Fayetteville pay an hourly wage depending on experience.  If the csr has no experience or very little they usually start them at about $8-9 an hr.  It goes up with more experience.  I CAN tell you that you should pay them what they are worth.  keeping a good csr in your agency is a BIG asset.

For a CSR, you can pick up one with experience and a license for about $21,000 a year.  Less experience?  Less money.
