  1. I think you can get them free if theyre still at school

  2. My daughter is 15 and has had contact lenses for the last two years. They can be quite difficult to get when you are under 16 - certainly none of the big opticians will provide them (specsavers, optical express etc)

We go to an independent optician and he is brilliant but we pay £22.50 per month. For that she gets an eye check and two contact lens fittings per year and contact lenses every six months - plus she is insured so they are replaced if she breaks or loses one.

Once she is 16 we could order lenses over the internet and just visit an optician for eye tests. The NHS don't provide lenses - they will pay for your eye test and each time there is a change in your prescription they will give you a voucher to use - but remember you will need glasses as well!

  3. under 16's are free on the nhs x

  4. Age would not matter I do not think but here contacts for me with insurance are about $35 a box.

  5. Contact lenses are NOT free on the NHS, only different types of glasses are free on the NHS.

Depending on the types, disposables, dailies, etc.

You need to ask an opticians from the UK for these prices as it varies because there's all sorts of opticians doing different prices!

  6. all the big stores should provide you with contact lenses... i know Specsavers like you to be at least 13 so as far as i can tell you should have no problems.

It all depends which type of lense suits you best, you may want dailies (where you take them out at the end of the day and throw them away) or monthlys (where you take them out but clean them and put them back in the next day, these are a lot of resposibilty as if you dont clean them it can lead to infection, so you may want to start out on dailies).

Dailies start from £11 for a box of 30, so £22 for 30 pairs.  However Specsavers offer a direct debit scheme which allows you to save money and have you lenses delivered, but you will need to talk to your optician about this.  With the direct debit you can also get 30% off a pair of glasses as well as new contact lenses if you damage one etc.

Hope this helped, any further questions feel free to ask!

Oh and you cant get contact lenses on the NHS only glasses.

  7. it depends on the patient Eyes .. no contact is just for a "15"year old...it's on how severe their eye are.....even if you think your child has Great  Vision.. That's  doesn't mean you can get a Straight down to the point amount.... ask your local Optometrist.

  8. Surely they are free on the nh

  9. you can't get them for free even if your on NHS.

i wear contacts they cost about 15 pounds per a month.

i have been having them since i was 14
