How much do contractors charge to install steel roofing?

I have picked some steel roofing out and I was wondering what price range I should expect to get. I have two very simple gable roofs one is 17sq. and the other one is 8 sq. I am planning on going over existing shingles, so no removal is needed. I am going to purchase all the materials at a local steel supplier.

Price ranges vary depending on where you are, and exactly what type of panels you are using.

Call a steel roofing contractor in your area, tell him you are a remodeling contractor and you are putting in a bid on a project that includes 17sq of whatever. Tell him you don't want a hard estimate, just a ballpark figure per square, just so you have an idea of what to bid, (That way he doesn't have to come in person to give an estimate.), and implying that you will get him to do the work if you get the job. That should give you an accurate price range.

I know it's a little underhanded, but it's an old trick we all have used at one time or another.
