If the automatic tip is used a room steward gets a boat load of money!!! 3.50 per person times 4 people in our case, times 11 days times 20 rooms the number of rooms each steward has to work.  Most of the rooms are at least double occupancy so that works out at between 1540 and 3080 per cruise.  Our room steward never vacuumed once in 11 days and since there was still glitter on the carpet when we entered our suite I have no idea how long it had been since the room was done.  I know our steward was not the industry standard. I saw other rooms being vaccumed I just know ours wasn't. The vacuum sat outside the room each day, I guess our steward hadn't gotten the idea you have to use it to get the room clean,  He did not get the full amount from me although everyone else in my group used the automatic pay voucher service.
