How much do elementary teachers get paid in the state of Texas?

It actually depends on the district. You can probably find the salary information on different district websites, I know Houston ISD lists theirs. They start at $42,745 for a bachelor's degree with no experience, but they also just approved an increase in pay, so it will go up.

I just got a job in Central Texas, first year teachers in my district make 40,000 + a sign on bonus (and if they are special education elementary teachers they get another stipend of like $2,000.)

It's 30k here in Clark County.

There is no way the salary for a first year teacher is 40k.

UNLESS you have high level in college tuition.

Assuming you only have a fresh Bach. degree.. Don't expect a lot at all.

from this website, it says that teachers' pays are usually around $38,857. They needed 82,000 teachers by 2008. That's a pretty big number, so i suppose you're still not too late to apply =)
