I'm looking into careers and I'd like to know some info on freelance writers.

So, what education is needed? And, how much does an average freelance writer make a year?

  1. The educational level of a freelance writer can vary widely and the income can vary widely as well.  The education can range from little high school to nothing to a Phd.  The average income is very difficult to pin down because there is no average.  The pay is not high.  The trend for freelance writers is also moving away from print to the web.   A freelance writer shouldn't expect to make a livable income from their writing unless they have a venture that finances them like a best selling book, speaking engagements, a sold screenplay, or things like this.  Freelance writers make very little money, and might not be paid on a predictable schedule.

  2. You should have a college degree in some sort of writing discipline, but it's not necessary. If you can show you have the goods, i.e. can write well, then you'll get gigs.

The amount you get paid varies greatly depending on who you are submitting articles to and how often they are accepted. There's more security in getting a staff job, but there's more freedom and creative control if you go freelance.

  3. idk do u?

  4. Depends on your niche; if you're going to write articles there's a lot of demand, but good pay is actually hard to find.

Try looking through this site: http://www.getafreelancer.com/affiliates... for offers, and compare how much an article writer is payed against a data entry professional (forum poster, etc) for example.
