How much do glasses usually cost?

I just got a stupid prescription for glasses and I need to know how much they usually cost...like how much for the frames and how much for the lenses because I didn't know if it would make a difference buying designer frames compared to others...I mean my dad's paying for them and blah blah blah but I'm just curious.....

the lens' are cheaper than the frames.

they are like $80-$100.

they are not that expensive!!

It depends on the frames and the lenses that you get. If you want designer frames the can run anywhere from $200-$400...maybe more (depends on the brand). As for the lenses, if you want thin lenses, with anti-glare and the best of the best, they can run from $150-$250.

This is without insurance.

I got those estimates from my own experience since I have worn glasses for almost 10 years now.

If you don't want glasses, get contacts. If you have astigmatism, they make contacts for astigmatism too. Glasses cost about 150-300 dollars.

Also depends on what shop you go to...In Australia some Optometrists have 2 for 1 offers where you get 2 pairs for around $150-$300,thats really good value!. It pays to have a look around at different shops if you can.  If you have health insurance for "extras" you can get a rebate then it could even end up costing nothing for new glasses!
